Reese Witherspoon issues urgent warning after scammers impersonate her online
"I want you to know that I would never, ever manipulate you," Witherspoon reminded her fans

Actress and producer Reese Witherspoon is sounding the alarm after discovering that scammers have been using her name and likeness on social media to target her fans.
The Legally Blonde and Big Little Lies star shared a video on her verified TikTok account on January 14, urging followers to be cautious and explaining the disturbing tactics these impersonators are using.
“Hey, this is important. I want to just tell you what I’ve been dealing with for the past 24 hours,” Witherspoon, 49, said in the video, revealing that multiple fake accounts on TikTok and Instagram are reaching out to people by direct message. The scammers reportedly try to build relationships, extract personal information and even arrange meet‑ups while pretending to be her.

Witherspoon was emphatic that these messages are not from her, stressing, “I want you to know this is not me. And it’s so upsetting that people would use my name to manipulate people, but I want you to know that I would never, ever manipulate you.” She reiterated that she would never reach out for money, private details, or to set up a meeting.
The Oscar‑winning star urged fans to be vigilant, advising them to verify the authenticity of any account that claims to be hers before engaging. “So please look at these accounts that are doing this and make sure they’re verified,” she said, warning that impersonation scams are becoming increasingly common and affecting many public figures.
Witherspoon highlighted that she is not alone in confronting this issue, noting that other celebrities have also spoken out about similar fraudulent activity targeting their followers. Her message was rooted in concern for fans’ personal safety and privacy as these scams grow more sophisticated and widespread.
