Ben Affleck jokes about Matt Damon’s physique on 'The Tonight Show' while discussing Damon’s role in 'The Odyssey'

Ben Affleck has joked about Matt Damon’s physique during a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where the long-time collaborators discussed Damon’s upcoming role in Christopher Nolan’s film The Odyssey.
During the interview, Fallon raised several viral moments involving the actors, including online attention around Affleck’s footwear choices.
When asked about reports that he had stopped wearing sneakers, Affleck responded, “And I’m working through this. I don’t know what to say.” He later added, “I have nothing to say to that. I have no response.”
When Fallon asked where the discussion had come from, Affleck replied, “I’m not sure. But if that’s the big scandal in your life, things are probably okay.” Damon followed by joking that it was notable the concern centred on whether Affleck was wearing comfortable shoes, prompting Affleck to respond, “Orthopedics. I’m good, GQ!”
The conversation then turned to Damon’s appearance in The Odyssey, with Fallon referencing images circulating online showing the actor in notably muscular shape. As the audience reacted, Affleck commented, “You know that’s great. You know, I’m in shape.” He added, “I am in shape, but a guy gets in shape once,” before joking, “I quit wearing sneakers, how about still in shape?”
Affleck continued to joke about the image, saying, “It looks like a guy who just stepped into really cold water, right?” Fallon disagreed, leading Damon to clarify the context of the photograph. “That’s actually – the shells on that beach were like, really jagged, and I was walking like that, because that’s a paparazzi shot from in between takes,” Damon said.
When Fallon confirmed the image was not taken during filming, Damon added, “There’s no scene where Odysseus is like, ‘Oh, my feet.’”
The exchange reflected the long-standing rapport between Affleck and Damon, who have frequently appeared together in interviews while promoting their respective projects.
