Jennifer Lawrence says a 15-minute compromise helps her marriage work
Jennifer Lawrence says flexibility helps her navigate married life

Jennifer Lawrence says a small but meaningful compromise has helped her and her husband, Cooke Maroney, navigate their differences and stay in sync as a couple.
Speaking on the SmartLess podcast, the 35-year-old actor said she married someone whose personality is largely the opposite of her own. While Lawrence describes herself as more free-spirited, she said Maroney thrives on organization, structure and routine.
“He’s incredibly organized. He’s an anchor,” Lawrence said, explaining that her husband’s attention to order has required her to adapt in small ways at home.
One of their biggest challenges, she said, has been time management, particularly since becoming parents. Lawrence admitted that sticking to strict schedules does not come naturally to her, even though routines are essential for their children.
To make things work, the couple landed on a simple solution: flexibility. “We’ve learned, to keep our marriage alive, I have a 15-minute wiggle room,” she said.
Lawrence and Maroney, who married in 2019, share two sons. She has previously spoken about how motherhood has reshaped her priorities, including becoming more selective about the projects she takes on.
In past interviews, Lawrence has credited Maroney with being a deeply supportive partner and hands-on father, saying his involvement has helped ease the guilt she sometimes feels as a working parent.
She has also said that ordinary routines, like grocery shopping together, have become one of her favorite parts of married life, describing them as a metaphor for teamwork in marriage.
