Private schools warned over defying Sindh govt’s winter timing directive
Several Karachi private schools ignored govt winter directive, opening at 8am instead of mandated 9am

The Sindh Directorate of Private Institutions has issued a stern warning to private schools for failing to comply with the Sindh government's winter timings directive, threatening legal action for non-compliance.
Despite the cold weather, several private schools in Karachi continued operating according to their usual schedules, opening at 8am on Monday instead of following the government's mandated change to 9am.

As a result, thousands of students were unable to benefit from the new timings set out in the Sindh government's notification, enduring freezing conditions as they arrived at school early in the morning, with temperatures dropping as low as 7:30am.

In response to reports of non-compliance, the directorate took swift action, issuing a circular to the concerned schools. The circular, signed by Additional Director of Registration Professor Rafiya Javed, urged school administrations to adhere to the government's directive.
The notification from the Department of School Education mandates that all educational institutions must operate from 9am between January 12 and January 26. The circular made it clear that any school found violating the government's directive would face legal action.
Rafiya emphasised that the step was taken by Education Minister Sardar Shah in the best interest of students, particularly to ensure their comfort during the chilly winter mornings. She reiterated that all private schools are legally obligated to follow the January 10 notification issued by the Department of School Education and must adjust their timings to start at 9am.
