Comedian Nikki Glaser is returning as host of the 2026 Golden Globe Awards and has promised that no one, including surprise plus‑ones, will be off limits when it comes to her jokes.

The 41‑year‑old, who made history as the first solo female host of the Golden Globes last year, spoke candidly ahead of Sunday’s ceremony about her approach to roasting the stars in attendance.

“I was even thinking, like, ‘Oh, I’ll leave plus ones alone, they don’t deserve it,’” Glaser said of her comedy strategy. “But I feel like that’s fair … Everyone is fair game. I really feel that way.”

She insisted that her jokes always come from a place of admiration, adding, “I’m writing from a place of love, and I wouldn’t do a joke about someone that I actually didn’t like.” Glaser also explained her theory on what makes a joke worth doing: “And if the person that I’m doing the joke to laughs, I think that’s reason enough for me to do it.”

Despite her broad license to rib big names, Glaser acknowledged she’s being thoughtful about the material, especially when it comes to stars she respects.

She said she’s testing her monologue in comedy clubs around Los Angeles and carefully calibrating jokes so they don’t “ruin anyone’s night.” She also noted, “People at home want you to make fun of the A‑listers.”

Glaser has learned from previous experience that certain subjects require an extra‑fine touch. Reflecting on testing jokes about actress Julia Roberts, she said, “You cannot make fun of America’s Sweetheart. So, whatever I end up saying about her, that is the most fine‑tuned joke that I’ve worked on so hard, because it is very delicate.”

As the Globes return to The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills for their 83rd annual ceremony, Glaser’s mix of bold jabs and self‑aware humor is expected to set the tone for a night that celebrates entertainment while playfully poking at its stars.

The event airs live on CBS and streams on Paramount+ on Sunday, January 11.
