Brooklyn Beckham sends legal notice to David and Victoria restricting contact to lawyers

The dispute between Brooklyn, Nicola & the Beckhams reportedly started four years ago deteriorating over the past year

Brooklyn Beckham has sent his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, a legal notice requesting that all communication with him be conducted solely through lawyers, it has been reported.

The letter also asks that they do not tag him on social media, marking a significant escalation in the long-running family dispute.

The move followed weeks of frustration from Brooklyn and his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, who are said to believe their requests for private reconciliation were repeatedly ignored. A breach of the notice is understood to be the reason Brooklyn later blocked his parents online, after Victoria “liked” a video he shared of a chicken recipe on Instagram.

The social media interaction reportedly led to a fall-out last month, with Brooklyn’s younger brother Cruz posting that both he and his parents had discovered they were blocked. Sources say the decision was not impulsive, but the result of a formal request issued at the end of last summer asking that any correspondence take place through legal representatives rather than publicly.

Nicola Peltz Beckham has also blocked David and Victoria, although Brooklyn has remained in contact with his grandparents and wider family. He is said to have spoken and exchanged messages with both sets of grandparents over the past six months, including during the festive period.

Friends of the family say David and Victoria have been left “bemused and devastated” by the legal notice, insisting there is no malice on their part and that they have simply tried to reassure their eldest son that they remain available to him. They are said to believe that any reconciliation must now take place privately, away from public attention.

The dispute between Brooklyn, Nicola and the Beckhams is reported to date back almost four years and has deteriorated further over the past 13 months. Neither Brooklyn nor Nicola attended David Beckham’s recent birthday celebrations, and all parties are now understood to be communicating only through lawyers.
