Cardi B has publicly defended her boyfriend, NFL wide receiver Stefon Diggs, following criminal charges linked to an alleged altercation with his personal chef in December.

The rapper addressed the situation on January 5 in a since-deleted post, sharing what she described as a text message exchange with the woman involved. Responding to online criticism, Cardi B wrote, “Not once has that woman said anything to me about being touched.. NOT ONCE!! Mind you, we was talking every single day until she left that house and she JUST wrote me this.”

She continued by urging critics to allow the legal process to unfold, adding, “But I’m gonna let the courts handle this s**t and when it gets handled I want all yall talking s**t on your f****n knees with apologies just as loud as the way yall been harrassing over a lie.. and I put that on my two month old son in the name of the lord!! That’s how confident I am.”

The personal chef reported the alleged incident to police on December 16, claiming a dispute over pay escalated into a physical confrontation on December 2. Diggs was formally charged on December 30 with felony strangulation or suffocation, as well as misdemeanor assault and battery.

Diggs is scheduled to appear in a Massachusetts court on January 23. The date falls just two days before the AFC Championship game, should his New England Patriots advance in the NFL playoffs. Speaking briefly on the matter, Diggs said, “It’s definitely an open case, so I can’t even say anything about it,” describing the period as “a very emotional time.”

His attorney, David Meier, strongly denied the allegations, stating, “Stefon Diggs categorically denies these allegations. They are unsubstantiated, uncorroborated, and were never investigated — because they did not occur.” He added that the claims stemmed from “an employee-employer financial dispute that was not resolved to the employee’s satisfaction.”
