Netflix has confirmed the release date for a previously unannounced documentary chronicling the making of the final season of Stranger Things, giving fans an emotional look at the end of one of the platform’s most successful series. Titled One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5, the film will debut on January 12 and follows the cast and creative team through the production of the show’s concluding chapter.

The documentary is directed by Martina Radwan, whose previous work includes Tomorrow, Tomorrow, Tomorrow, and whose background as a cinematographer has earned critical acclaim, including an Emmy win. Filmed across an entire year on set, the project captures the scale of effort behind the final season, from the writers room to the last day of filming. According to Netflix, the documentary focuses on the craft, pressure, and emotional weight of closing a story that has defined a generation of viewers.

A newly released trailer offers a glimpse of those emotions, beginning with footage from the final table read. Ross Duffer reflects on the difficulty of writing the last lines the characters would ever say, while Matt Duffer recalls the impact of typing the words End Series. Scenes show cast members Noah Schnapp and Millie Bobby Brown visibly emotional as the reality of the ending sets in, alongside long time castmates including Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, and Cara Buono.

The trailer also revisits the early days of Stranger Things, cutting between archival images of the young cast and moments from Season 5 production. David Bowie’s Heroes plays throughout, reinforcing the sense of nostalgia and closure. Later moments move into the writers room, where the Duffers discuss the fate of Eleven, with Brown admitting she was not ready to let go of the character or the world they built together.

Online reaction to the trailer was immediate. Fans flooded social media with emotional responses, sharing clips of the cast crying during the table read and reflecting on how long the series has been part of their lives. Many praised Netflix for documenting the process at a time when behind the scenes storytelling has become less common, while others admitted the footage made the final season feel suddenly very real.

In a joint statement, the Duffer Brothers explained that behind the scenes films inspired their own filmmaking dreams and said this documentary was their way of preserving that tradition. As Stranger Things prepares to close its final chapter, One Last Adventure positions itself as both a farewell and a tribute to the people who brought Hawkins to life.
