Rhea Seehorn reflects on Pluribus success after Critics Choice Awards win
Rhea Seehorn says she didn’t expect Pluribus to be a hit after winning Best Actress at the 2026 Critics Choice Awards

Rhea Seehorn is reflecting on the unexpected success of Pluribus following her Best Actress in a Drama Series win at the 2026 Critics Choice Awards.
The Apple TV+ sci-fi drama, created by Vince Gilligan, has quickly emerged as one of the streamer’s standout series since its debut in late 2025.
Speaking exclusively to E! News at the January 4 ceremony, Seehorn said she did not assume Pluribus would resonate widely with audiences, despite Gilligan’s track record with Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. While she praised the quality of the writing, directing, and production backing from Apple, she noted that audience response is never guaranteed.
Seehorn, 53, stars as Carol Sturka, an author navigating an unsettling world shaped by an apocalyptic pathogen. She acknowledged that expectations surrounding Gilligan’s work created uncertainty, including the possibility of viewer fatigue following his previous successes. According to the actress, the show’s slow-burn storytelling added another layer of unpredictability.
Despite those doubts, Pluribus quickly became a breakout hit and was renewed for a second season just weeks after its November premiere. Seehorn said she personally connected with the series upon first reading the script, describing it as complex, unsettling, and darkly humorous.
The show’s layered narrative has also sparked extensive fan discussion, including online theories about Carol’s true nature. Seehorn said she welcomes the speculation, viewing it as a sign of audience engagement rather than confusion.
Co-star Karolina Wydra has similarly praised the series for inspiring conversation and critical thinking among viewers. As Pluribus moves toward its second season, its early acclaim and awards recognition have cemented it as one of Apple TV+’s most talked-about dramas.
