Cyberpunk 2 tipped for 2030 release as analysts predict extended development timeline
Analysts suggest CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk sequel may not launch until late 2030 as development expands

Cyberpunk 2 may not reach players until the end of the decade, according to new analyst predictions that place its release in late 2030.
The outlook comes five years after Cyberpunk 2077 launched in December 2020 following multiple delays and widespread scrutiny over performance issues at release.
While its debut proved challenging, CD Projekt Red spent subsequent years updating and expanding the game. Ongoing improvements and additional content helped rebuild player confidence, allowing Cyberpunk 2077 to maintain an active fanbase more than five years after launch.
Interest in a sequel has continued to grow, but recent projections indicate that Cyberpunk 2 remains in the early stages of production.
Polish analytics firm Noble Securities has stated that the sequel is still in an expansion phase, with the development team currently consisting of 135 people and expected to double in size within the next two years.
In a translated statement, Noble Securities said: “Regarding the Cyberpunk sequel, Noble Securities indicates that the team working on the project as part of the studio’s second key franchise consists of 135 people and is expected to double in size within two years. The desire to integrate multiplayer into production prompted us to extend production time beyond the progress of work on the benchmark W4. As a result, the budget has increased to PLN 1.5 billion, and we expect the release in Q4 2030 (the 10th anniversary of CP77).”
The projected budget of PLN 1.5 billion places Cyberpunk 2 in a similar cost range to its predecessor. Cyberpunk 2077 was reported to have cost approximately $436 million, while the sequel’s estimated budget converts to roughly $419 million, suggesting only a moderate increase.
CD Projekt Red is also managing several other projects. The studio continues to support The Witcher 3 and is actively developing The Witcher 4, which may contribute to the extended timeline for a return to Night City.
