Emily in Paris has not yet been officially renewed for a sixth season, but comments from the show's creative team suggest that plans for the series' continuation are under consideration following the conclusion of Season 5. Since its debut on Netflix, the series has become known for its glamorous depiction of Parisian life, fashion, and the romantic entanglements of its lead character, Emily Cooper, played by Lily Collins.

The show follows Emily, an ambitious young American who relocates to France for a professional opportunity, navigating the challenges of a new culture, work environment, and personal relationships. Over the course of five seasons, Emily has experienced a mix of professional triumphs and romantic dilemmas, and Season 5 was no different, further exploring her evolving love life and friendships.

Season 5 primarily depicted Emily spending time in Rome with Marcello, portrayed by Eugenio Franceschini, providing fans with new settings and storylines that expanded the show's narrative beyond Paris.

While Emily ended the season single, the finale contained subtle hints that her connection with Gabriel, played by Lucas Bravo, may not be entirely over.

Gabriel, who has been a central figure in Emily's romantic journey, was notably absent for much of the season, prompting speculation among fans about the character's future on the show.

Director and executive producer Andrew Fleming addressed these concerns in December 2025, emphasizing Gabriel's importance to the series. "Gabriel is important. He's part of the DNA of the show. When he and Emily are in a scene together, something undefinable happens. They have this chemistry. They do. There's just something about the two of them that's very watchable," he explained, highlighting the undeniable appeal of the pairing. Fleming also clarified that Bravo's reduced screen time was due to scheduling conflicts rather than any creative decision to write the character out. "At no point was Lucas ever leaving the show permanently. … He did have a commitment. He had a movie that he was doing. So we worked around that," Fleming said.

Creator Darren Star echoed Fleming's statements, stressing that Season 5 was not intended to focus on Emily and Gabriel. "Because that's not where Emily's story was, or where we ever planned it to be in Season 5," he said, adding that even with Gabriel's limited presence, he remained an integral part of the show's world. Star's remarks reassured fans that the narrative thread connecting Emily and Gabriel remains alive, despite his reduced screen time.

The season concluded with Gabriel writing Emily a postcard from Greece, inviting her to visit, leaving their relationship unresolved and open to further development. Fleming hinted at the possibility of future episodes exploring new locations, saying, "Assuming we're picked up, I want to go back to Paris. But I want to go other places too." This indicates that the show may continue to blend the allure of familiar Parisian settings with fresh international experiences, keeping the storytelling dynamic.

While Netflix has yet to make a renewal announcement, the cast and producers have made it clear that Emily's story—and particularly her connection to Gabriel—remains unfinished. Fans are eager for confirmation, hoping that the sixth season will provide clarity on Emily's romantic journey while continuing to showcase her professional growth and adventures abroad.

As speculation continues, it seems that the show's creative team is committed to maintaining the charm and signature elements that have made Emily in Paris a cultural phenomenon, balancing romance, humor, and global escapism in a way that keeps viewers engaged and invested in Emily's world.
