Amanda Seyfried and Sydney Sweeney on the possibility of a Housemaid sequel
Seyfried said the film’s conclusion naturally sets up the idea of continuing Millie and Nina’s story

As The Housemaid continues its run in theaters, stars Amanda Seyfried and Sydney Sweeney are opening up about the potential for a sequel to the thriller, noting that the story’s ending and source material leave the door open for future installments.
Seyfried, who plays Nina, said the film’s conclusion, with its emotional twists and character development, naturally sets up the idea of continuing Millie and Nina’s story. She hinted that further exploring the characters would be exciting if audiences embrace the movie.
Her co-star, Sydney Sweeney, was equally enthusiastic when discussing what a sequel could mean. Sweeney explained that since the film is based on a series of best-selling novels, there’s plenty more story to explore on screen.
“I would love to,” Sweeney said when asked about returning for another installment. “I was such a huge fan of the books, so I would be just as happy as everyone else being able to see more Housemaids come to life and getting to explore more of Millie.”
Sweeney also described her character as someone full of fire and resilience, qualities she’d relish exploring further should the film’s success lead to a sequel.
Behind the camera, director Paul Feig has hinted that he’s open to continuing the story as well — noting that the world created in The Housemaid and the narrative threads left hanging by the ending could support more than one film if audiences respond enthusiastically.
Indeed, the original novel is just the first in a series that includes follow-up books, giving filmmakers a wealth of material to potentially adapt if sequels move forward.
While no official sequel has been announced, the remarks from Seyfried, Sweeney, and Feig make it clear that everyone involved is excited by the possibility, and that Millie’s story might only be beginning on the big screen.
