Kristin Cabot, the former Chief People Officer at tech company Astronomer, has addressed the fallout from a viral kiss-cam clip filmed during a Coldplay concert earlier this year.

The brief video, which showed Cabot alongside then-CEO Andy Byron, spread rapidly across social media and ignited widespread speculation about an alleged workplace affair.

In her first interview since the incident, Cabot acknowledged that the moment was a “bad decision,” explaining that alcohol and a relaxed concert atmosphere contributed to her behavior.

She said the reaction that followed was swift and overwhelming, turning her into an internet meme almost overnight and subjecting her to public shaming, harassment and personal attacks.

Cabot pushed back against claims of an ongoing affair, stating that both she and Byron were in the process of separating from their respective spouses at the time.

She emphasised that the viral narrative far exceeded the reality of what occurred and ultimately overshadowed her professional achievements and years of work in human resources leadership.

The moment gained additional attention when Coldplay frontman Chris Martin jokingly commented from the stage that the pair might be having an affair or were simply shy, after they attempted to duck out of view once they realized they were on the stadium screen. The remark, though lighthearted, further fueled online speculation.

In the weeks that followed, both Cabot and Byron resigned from their roles at Astronomer as the company faced heightened scrutiny over leadership conduct.

Cabot also moved forward with divorce proceedings, describing the period as one of the most challenging chapters of her life.
