One killed, 14 injured in Larkana LPG cylinder blast
Poorly made cylinders are to blame

A woman lost her life, and 14 people, including children, were injured as roofs and walls of three houses caved in owing to a liquefied petroleum gas cylinder blast at a home in the Labour Colony area of Larkana on Tuesday.
The explosion, according to the police, occurred in the house of Mukhtiar Jatoi. The explosion was so intense that it also damaged the neighbouring houses of Qurban Mugheri and Irfan Rind. Mugheri's wife, Yasmeen, died in the incident. Officials at Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Institute of Trauma confirmed receiving a dead body and 14 injured, among whom four children were said to be in serious condition. The Sindh government launches a crackdown against the sale of substandard liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders after every such tragedy. However, people continue to buy cheap cylinders to save some money at the cost of putting their lives at risk.
Following the LPG shop explosion in Pareetabad in May of 2024, which killed 27 people, mostly children, authorities had undertaken a sweeping clampdown on LPG outlets. The sudden pressure had made LPG scarce for weeks, even for domestic consumers.
