Howard Stern announced that he has signed a new deal with SiriusXM that will keep him on the air through at least 2028 after his previous contract neared its end at the close of 2025.

The news ends widespread rumours that the iconic broadcaster might leave the platform or retire, rumours that circulated all year amid negotiations and public commentary about his future.

Stern, 71, confirmed the update during his SiriusXM broadcast, revealing that negotiations had been ongoing and that both sides ultimately reached an agreement that allows him to continue hosting The Howard Stern Show, a fixture on the network since 2006.

According to Stern, the new contract provides him with more flexibility and personal time while still maintaining his presence on the channel that helped define satellite radio.

In recent months, Stern and SiriusXM had been in the spotlight as his previous five‑year deal was set to expire. Earlier in the year, Stern addressed speculation about his future, stating that talks were continuing and that he wasn’t being pushed out, even joking about “being too woke” as part of media chatter around his contract status.

The renewed commitment from Stern comes as SiriusXM continues to navigate a competitive audio landscape, balancing the draw of legacy personalities with the growth of podcasts and streaming audio platforms. Stern’s longevity and influence are widely recognised, and his decision to stay reinforces his status as one of the most enduring figures in American broadcasting.

Fans and industry observers have welcomed the news, noting that Stern’s continued presence will ensure that The Howard Stern Show remains a core part of SiriusXM’s lineup for years to come.

The three‑year extension underscores his ongoing passion for the medium and his unique ability to engage audiences across generations.
