‘The Pitt’ season 2 opens with a first look at Dr. Robby’s return
The first scene of ‘The Pitt’ season 2 brings viewers back to the ER

The Pitt is set to return for Season 2 on January 8, and HBO Max has released the first 90 seconds of the new season ahead of its premiere.
Rather than opening on a medical emergency, the scene follows Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch (Noah Wyle) during his commute to the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center.
The sequence shows Robby riding his motorcycle across Pittsburgh on a clear summer morning, offering a brief moment of calm before the day begins. Once he arrives at the hospital, the scene transitions toward the familiar intensity of the emergency department, signaling the start of another demanding shift.

As in Season 1, each episode of The Pitt represents one hour of a continuous 15-hour shift. Season 2’s timeline is set on July 4, a date that typically brings an increase in emergency room activity, including injuries related to fireworks, heat, and holiday gatherings.
The opening scene itself avoids showing any incoming cases, instead focusing on Robby’s routine and the atmosphere leading into the day. It establishes a contrast between the quiet exterior world and the high-pressure environment inside the hospital.
