Amanda Seyfried is standing firm after receiving major backlash for a controversial comment she made about Charlie Kirk following his assassination two months ago.

The actor first faced criticism after describing the late conservative figure as “hateful” in an online comment, a reaction that immediately stirred intense debate across social media.

Kirk, a prominent MAGA influencer and founder of Turning Point, was shot and killed on September 10 during an on-campus debate at Utah Valley University. His death prompted an outpouring of grief from supporters and widespread media coverage, fueling scrutiny of any public reaction — including Seyfried’s.

In a new interview with Who What Wear, Seyfried made it clear she has no intention of apologizing. “I'm not f**king apologizing for that,” she said. “What I said was based on actual reality, actual footage, and actual quotes. I’m free to have an opinion.”

Seyfried explained that posting a follow-up statement on Instagram helped her regain her “voice,” saying critics had twisted her words out of context. She emphasized that her frustration with misogyny and racist rhetoric did not conflict with her belief that Kirk’s murder was “disturbing and deplorable.”

The backlash reignited after users resurfaced another post where she reshared a meme suggesting violence invites further violence. Some X users called for boycotts and labeled her remarks disrespectful. Others defended the actor, arguing her comments addressed broader societal issues rather than endorsing harm.

Meanwhile, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson has been charged with Kirk’s murder. Investigators say he allegedly confessed to planning the attack after becoming angered by Kirk’s rhetoric.

Seyfried has not issued any additional statements, maintaining her stance despite the ongoing controversy.
