James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, recently confirmed that the debut trailer for the highly anticipated film would drop this week. Most assumed the release would align with Thursday’s previously rumored schedule, but the sudden Times Square countdown suggests DC may be accelerating the rollout—possibly to avoid clashing with the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday trailer.
The countdown marks the strongest indication yet that Warner Bros. is preparing a major reveal. While some have speculated the timer could lead to a poster or brief promo, the scale of the display and the timing strongly point toward a full trailer debut.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El in a darker, more hardened interpretation of the character. Gunn has described this version of Supergirl as someone shaped by the traumatic destruction of Krypton and years of survival on a broken fragment of her home world—vastly different from previous portrayals.
The film’s story, inspired by Tom King’s acclaimed comic series, follows Kara on a cosmic journey where she confronts revenge, justice, and the truth about her origins. The cast also includes Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem, Eve Ridley as Ruthye, Jason Momoa as Lobo, and David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham as Kara’s parents.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is set to hit theaters on June 26, 2026. Fans now wait for the countdown to reach zero—and the Supergirl trailer to finally take flight.
