Recruitment scandal at CDA: 58 employees charged for using fake documents

CDA charges employees for securing jobs with forged documents, FIA launches investigation

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has charged 58 employees with securing jobs using fake educational certificates. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti‑Corruption Circle in Islamabad has filed an official case and launched an inquiry into the deceptive hiring practices.

According to the case, the accused obtained jobs ranging from grade 5 to grade 14 through illegal means, violating the provincial merit quota during the recruitment process. They had secured positions as security guards, drivers, lift operators, and tube well operators.

This case marks the latest in a series of recruitment scandals within the CDA, highlighting ongoing concerns about the authority’s internal checks and balances.

In 2017, CDA took action against five officials accused of submitting forged matriculation and higher secondary school certificates. Formal FIRs were registered against the accused.

As part of enforcement under its service regulations, the authority removed six officials in 2019 after they were found to hold false educational testimonials.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is currently investigating the accused, with more developments expected. The latest case raises significant concerns about CDA's recruitment process and its ability to ensure transparency and fairness in hiring.
