Karl Urban hints at major The Boys season 5 deaths in opening episode
Karl Urban warns fans to expect significant character deaths in The Boys season 5 premiere

The Boys is gearing up for a high-stakes final season, and according to series star Karl Urban, the show will waste no time delivering emotional blows. Speaking during a panel at FAN EXPO, moderated by ScreenRant’s Joe Deckelmeier, Urban revealed that Season 5 will feature major character deaths as early as Episode 1, signaling the beginning of a darker final arc.
Urban, who plays Billy Butcher, said the final season immediately immerses viewers in escalating danger. “We throw you in the deep end,” he said, explaining that the stakes will be “as high as they can possibly be.” He warned that audiences should prepare for impactful losses early in the season, noting that long-standing characters will face serious jeopardy right from the premiere.
Urban added that these early shocks will reinforce the tone of the final chapters: “That’s probably what is going to make you realize, ‘Oh, this s--t is for real.’ The stakes couldn’t be higher, and anybody’s fair game.”
Production on The Boys Season 5 wrapped in June 2025, with the show expected to return in 2026. The final season will also intersect with the events of spinoff Gen V, following Season 2’s ending in which Starlight and A-Train recruited Godolkin University students into their growing resistance.
Even as the flagship series comes to an end, Amazon is continuing to expand the franchise. A prequel titled Vought Rising, centered on Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) and Stormfront (Aya Cash), is moving forward, and Ackles will also appear in the final season.
Showrunner Eric Kripke is additionally orchestrating a major Supernatural reunion. Actors Misha Collins and Jared Padalecki will guest star in Season 5, with Urban hinting at even more cameos during the FAN EXPO panel.
Prime Video has not yet announced a premiere date for The Boys Season 5.
