Maxton Hall season 3 completes filming as showrunners tease an intense final chapter

Production on Maxton Hall – The World Between Us Season 3 has officially concluded, marking the start of the final stretch for the popular German-language drama. The last installment has been filming quietly in recent weeks, fueling speculation across fan communities. Head writer and executive producer Ceylan Yildirim told Deadline that the third season, which adapts Save Us—the final book in Mona Kasten’s trilogy—may close out the franchise entirely.

Picking up after Season 2’s cliffhanger, the story follows scholarship student Ruby as she faces the consequences of being suspended from Maxton Hall College, with evidence suggesting James may have played a role in her expulsion. According to the plot outline shared with Deadline, Ruby’s academic future and Oxford aspirations are suddenly at risk, creating intense strain on her relationship with James. Their attempt to protect Ruby’s graduation pulls them into an escalating emotional conflict that affects their friends and disrupts the school’s social order. As past secrets surface, Ruby and James confront the widening gap between their worlds and question whether their relationship can survive the turmoil.

Season 3 sees the return of Damian Hardung, Harriet Herbig-Matten, Sonja Weißer, Eidin Jalali, Ben Felipe, Fedja van Huêt, Runa Greiner, Justus Riesner, Govinda Gabriel, Andrea Guo, Frederic Balonier, Eli Riccardi and Dagny Dewath.

Behind the scenes, UFA Fiction and Amazon MGM Studios continue their partnership, with Martin Schreier returning as director. Executive producers Markus Brunnemann and Yildirim lead the series, while the writing team includes Yildirim, Sandra Stöckmann, Marlene Melchior, Catharina Junk and Aylin Kockler. Producers Eike Adler and Valentin Debler also return, supported by the German Motion Picture Fund.

As for whether Maxton Hall will expand beyond its trilogy, Yildirim told Deadline that while discussions are always possible, there are currently no plans for additional seasons or spinoffs.
