ISLAMABAD:

With winter fast approaching and temperatures expected to fall in the coming days, markets across the federal capital have begun offering seasonal discounts on warm clothing.

Islamabad's most popular shopping destinations — including Aabpara Market, Karachi Company, Jinnah Super, Super Market, G-10 Markaz, F-10 Markaz, and Centaurus Mall — are bustling with activity as customers throng to purchase winter apparel for the chilly months ahead.

Leading retail outlets in these commercial hubs have launched promotional campaigns to attract shoppers, announcing generous discounts ranging from 10 to 50 per cent. Local vendors at weekly bazaars have also stocked up on reasonably priced winter wear, drawing families in search of budget-friendly options.

A wide assortment of clothing for men, women, and children is now available, including cosy sweaters, jackets, shawls, woollen accessories, khaddar, linen, velvet, co-ord sets, viscose, cambric, gabardine, flannel, denim, fleece, caps, gloves, socks, and scarves.

Retailers in the capital's major shopping areas have reported a marked increase in footfall as residents prepare for the cold season.

Tabassum Abbas, a shopkeeper at Aabpara Market, said that new stock had started arriving as winter neared. "We have begun receiving a wide variety of warm clothing for all age groups and genders, with more shipments expected in the coming weeks," he explained. "We are also offering substantial discounts on winter items to facilitate customers."

He added that demand for winter clothing typically peaks in December and January, when temperatures drop significantly. "This year, customers are showing a stronger preference for locally made khaddar and woollen garments due to the rising prices of imported goods," he noted.

Frequent shopper Taj Gul, visiting Aabpara Market, expressed her enthusiasm for the seasonal sales. "I bought a khaddar dress from one of the shops here. The quality of local fabric has improved remarkably and feels warmer than many imported options," she said. "With prices increasing every year, I prefer shopping early while discounts are attractive and the range is wider."

Similarly, Anam, a college student from Sector F-6, said she had purchased a jacket from a well-known outlet at Super Market. "This is the best time to buy winter clothes before prices rise during the peak season," she observed. "I usually look for trendy yet affordable pieces, and this year's collections are particularly stylish," she added.
