Elon Musk responds to Billie Eilish’s criticism of his wealth, ‘not the sharpest tool in the shed’
Elon Musk responded to Billie Eilish’s public criticism of his wealth, calling her “not the sharpest tool in the shed”

Billie Eilish recently criticised Elon Musk for not using his vast fortune to support global humanitarian causes after reports that he could become the world’s first trillionaire.
Her comments followed an Instagram Story post in which she shared infographics from the activist group My Voice My Choice showing how Musk’s wealth might be used to end world hunger, provide clean water and assist endangered species.
On November 13 2025, Eilish wrote: “If you are a billionaire, why are you a billionaire? No hate, but give your money away, shorties.” Her post included strong language and references to Musk’s growing net worth.
Musk responded five days later on X by reposting the criticism and adding: “She’s not the sharpest tool in the shed.” His comment was directed at a fan account sharing Eilish’s post.
Fan reactions on X varied. One user posted: “Team Eilish 💯 why are billionaires still doing nothing?” while another remarked: “Musk being defensive again — stand your ground Billie.” Some responses supported Musk, with a user writing: “Let’s not pretend billionaires owe us everything overnight.”
Eilish has a track record of donating to climate and food equity causes and reportedly gave US$11.5 million from her Hit Me Hard and Soft tour to such efforts. Musk, while significantly wealthy, has faced scrutiny over how his assets are allocated and his philanthropic strategy.
The exchange between the singer and tech billionaire has sparked broader conversation about the responsibilities of extreme wealth and the public role of philanthropy. Eilish’s critique of billionaire status and Musk’s terse reply underline national and global debates over wealth distribution.
