Sydney Sweeney responds to Bond girl rumours, says she’d “have more fun as James Bond”
Sydney Sweeney addressed rumours linking her to the next James Bond film, saying she’d rather play 007 himself

Sydney Sweeney has responded to speculation about her potential role in the next James Bond film, suggesting she might prefer to play the iconic spy rather than his romantic counterpart.
In an interview with Variety, the Euphoria actress addressed ongoing rumours that Amazon founder Jeff Bezos wants her to appear as a Bond girl in the upcoming 2028 film produced by Amazon MGM Studios.
“I can’t. I don’t know. To be honest, I don’t know all the Bond rumours, but I’ve always been a huge fan of the franchise, and I’m excited and curious to see what they do with it,” Sweeney said.
When asked if she would join the project, Sweeney replied, “Depends on the script. I think I’d have more fun as James Bond.”
Plans for the 26th instalment of the franchise are currently underway following Amazon’s 2022 acquisition of MGM. In February, producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson granted Amazon MGM Studios full creative control of the 007 series. The studio reportedly paid Eon Productions $20 million for that privilege.
Denis Villeneuve, known for Dune and Dune: Part Two, is set to direct, while Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight will write the screenplay. Villeneuve is expected to begin casting for the next James Bond in 2026 after completing Dune: Part Three.
Reports suggest he is seeking a “fresh face” from the British Isles, though no restrictions have been placed on casting the Bond girl role.
Sweeney’s name surfaced prominently after she attended Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding in Venice earlier this year.
Despite her busy filming schedule, including Christy and Euphoria’s final season, speculation continues about whether she might join one of cinema’s most enduring franchises.
