NFL legend Adrian Peterson faces new legal trouble in Texas
NFL legend Adrian Peterson was taken into custody in Texas over the weekend, officials confirm

Former NFL star Adrian Peterson was arrested in Sugar Land, Texas, over the weekend on charges of driving while intoxicated and unlawful carrying of a weapon, according to Fort Bend County jail records.
Authorities say the 40-year-old was found asleep behind the wheel of his running SUV early Sunday morning, showing signs of intoxication when police arrived.
He reportedly failed field sobriety tests, and officers discovered a firearm inside the vehicle. Peterson was booked into the Fort Bend County Jail and released Monday afternoon.
The incident marks Peterson’s second DWI-related arrest in 2025, he was previously arrested in Minnesota in April, just hours after appearing at a Minnesota Vikings NFL Draft event.
Peterson, a seven-time Pro Bowler and 2012 NFL MVP, has also faced other legal troubles in the past, including a 2014 misdemeanor assault charge involving his young son and a 2022 arrest related to a domestic incident, for which no charges were filed.
The longtime Vikings running back, who ranks fifth on the NFL’s all-time rushing list with 14,918 yards, has not yet issued a public statement regarding the arrest.
