Jacob Elordi has opened up about filming Euphoria season 3, admitting that even as one of the show’s leads, he remains in the dark about much of the storyline. Speaking to Variety on the red carpet at the Academy Museum Gala, Elordi described the experience as both “liberating” and “incredibly cinematic.”

“It was incredible, man,” Elordi said. “It was incredibly liberating. I got to play something so sort of far out from what I’ve done before.” He praised creator Sam Levinson for constructing a season that’s “incredibly clever and cinematic,” adding, “I think people are really going to like it.”

However, Elordi revealed that the production’s compartmentalized filming approach meant he only knew his own arc. “Everybody shoots at different storylines,” he explained. “I don’t know what anyone else is doing. I had a really singular storyline. You don’t know what the other storylines are. It’s like FBI files.”

The actor said that secrecy has an upside: he’ll be able to experience the new season as a fan. “I’ll get to consume the show the same way everybody else does, which I haven’t been able to do before,” he noted.

Elordi also clarified a recent report claiming that the new season was filmed entirely in VistaVision. “I did not say that, that is not true,” he said. “It’s shot on a lot of different kinds of film, and it’s beautiful.”

Euphoria, which follows a group of high school students navigating addiction, relationships, and identity, last aired in 2022. Returning stars include Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, and Sydney Sweeney, alongside new additions such as Natasha Lyonne and Danielle Deadwyler.

Elordi is also promoting Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming Frankenstein for Netflix, in which he stars as the monster opposite Oscar Isaac.
