Emiru alleges negligence from Twitch officials following assault

Streamer Emiru has confirmed she is pressing charges against the man who assaulted her during TwitchCon 2025, criticizing Twitch and its parent company, Amazon, for what she described as negligence and a lack of accountability.

“I’ve been talking to Twitch people, and I’m really upset because I noticed a lot of negligence around the event,” she said after returning from the convention.

Emiru claimed that senior figures, including the head of security at Amazon and the head of risk at Twitch, initially decided to give the assailant a 30-day platform ban. “They said, ‘Oh, well, he’s banned from the platform for 30 days.’ And I was like, hello? That needs to be indefinite.”

She added that the decision was changed after about an hour, saying, “No one gives a f*** if he’s banned on Twitch or not. We’re talking about the convention here.”

Emiru says the head of security at Amazon and the head of risk at Twitch initially gave the suspect a 30-day ban until her team pushed for an indefinite ban.

Speaking about the assault itself, Emiru said she feared for her safety. “I could have literally been stabbed yesterday,” she said. “This is just not okay.” She confirmed that she has filed a police report and is pressing charges against the man involved.

According to multiple reports, the incident took place during a meet-and-greet session when a male attendee allegedly grabbed Emiru without consent. Witnesses said the man left the area before security intervened. Twitch later issued a statement condemning the behavior as “completely unacceptable” and said the individual had been permanently banned from both the platform and its in-person events.

The incident has sparked broader criticism of Twitch’s event security and raised concerns about how the company handles creator safety. For many streamers, Emiru’s experience underscores ongoing fears about harassment, accountability, and the lack of preventive measures at large conventions.
