EA has addressed a major launch issue affecting Battlefield 6 players, confirming that a licensing error caused some users to lose access to the game and its downloadable content shortly after release.

Reports surfaced on October 10 from players who had preloaded the game but were unable to play at launch. Many received messages claiming they did not own content they had already purchased, including both base game files and DLC.

EA later confirmed the issue was linked to a licensing verification fault in its EA App, which mistakenly flagged legitimate ownership records as invalid.

In a statement shared via the official Battlefield account on X (formerly Twitter), the development team apologised for the disruption and announced that affected players will receive in-game compensation.

The package includes bonus XP boosters and full access to the current seasonal Battle Pass. Players who had already purchased the Battle Pass will instead be given free access to the next season’s pass.

EA stated that the issue has now been fixed and that a patch has been deployed across all platforms. Restarting the game should restore normal access for most users. The company added that it will continue to monitor player feedback to ensure stability as more users join.

While Battlefield 6 has launched to strong player numbers and a positive early reception, its first 24 hours were marked by technical issues, including long login queues. EA acknowledged that these measures were implemented to maintain server stability during peak demand.

The publisher reiterated its commitment to supporting the community through post-launch updates, promising a smoother experience as the rollout of the game’s seasonal content continues.
