Hayley Williams has revealed that Paramore declined the chance to feature on the soundtrack of Jennifer’s Body because of opposition from former guitarist Josh Farro.
The disclosure came during a new episode of Popcast, where Williams discussed creative disagreements that shaped the band’s career.
Williams explained that she had been offered the film’s end credits but turned it down for the sake of unity within the group. “There were a lot of things that I even wanted to do that they weren’t supportive of,” she said. “And when I say ‘they,’ I mostly mean Zac’s brother, ’cause he was an ass.”

She added, “I turned down the end credits of Jennifer’s Body for him. You know what I mean? There’s so much lore! There’s so much people don’t know. I mean, I guess growing up fundamental Christian, [he] didn’t agree.”
The credits were eventually paired with Hole’s “Violet,” while Williams contributed her solo track “Teenagers” to the soundtrack. Farro left Paramore in 2010, citing religious differences.
Despite the band’s history of conflict and speculation about their future, Williams reassured fans that Paramore will continue. “Paramore’s not ever going away. If I woke up tomorrow and hated it and was like ‘Fuck Paramore,’ it’s not going away. But it’s my favourite band. And I think we need breaks.”
Williams, who recently released her second solo album Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party, reflected on her evolution as both an artist and individual, linking her growth to deconstructing her evangelical upbringing.
