Lola Young has announced she will be cancelling all of her upcoming performances just days after collapsing on stage during a New York concert. The 24-year-old singer of the hit Messy stunned audiences at the All Things Go festival on Saturday when she swayed mid-performance before falling backwards. Security and medical staff rushed to her aid, and the following day her scheduled slot in Washington DC was pulled.

In an emotional Instagram post shared, Young told fans she was stepping back. “I’m going away for a while. It pains me to say I have to cancel everything for the foreseeable future. Thank you for all the love and support. I’m so sorry to let anyone down who has bought a ticket to see me, it hurts me more than you know,” she wrote. She promised ticket holders full refunds and added, “I really hope you’ll give me a second chance once I’ve had some time to work on myself and come back stronger.”

The moment sparked an outpouring of concern across social media. At the festival, fellow performer Doechii rallied the audience to shout support, telling the crowd, “She’s an incredibly talented artist, and she wasn’t feeling well tonight, and I’m so glad you guys were there to support her and hold her up. Let’s wish her the best, OK everybody?” Online, clips of the incident circulated widely, with fans expressing both worry and sympathy. Many noted Young’s openness about mental health struggles in the past, interpreting her decision as a sign she is prioritising her wellbeing.

The collapse came as Young was performing Conceited from her second studio album This Wasn’t Meant For You Anyway. It also followed a cancelled performance in New Jersey earlier that same weekend. Her upcoming October tour of England and Scotland has now been scrapped, along with extensive dates across North America, South America and Europe stretching into 2026.

The announcement arrives during a year of career highs for Young, who released her third studio album I’m Only F**king Myself, scored three UK top 40 singles, and won the prestigious Ivors rising star award. She was also recently nominated for best pop video at the UK Music Video Awards. For fans, the abrupt halt feels like a shocking reversal of momentum. Yet her decision to pause suggests an artist intent on returning stronger, even if it means stepping away from the spotlight at the height of her success.
