Tate McRae has unfollowed fellow musician d4vd on Instagram following news that authorities are investigating a suspicious death linked to him.
The move comes shortly after police confirmed that the body of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas was discovered in a Tesla registered to d4vd on September 8.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, human remains were found in the trunk of the impounded vehicle after complaints of a foul odor. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner later identified the victim as Rivas, who had been reported missing in 2024. Her cause of death has not yet been determined, with officials listing it as “deferred” pending further investigation.
d4vd, born David Anthony Burke, rose to prominence in 2022 with viral hits “Romantic Homicide” and “Here With Me.” He has since released multiple projects, including his debut album Withered in 2025. Despite being on tour at the time of the discovery, his representative told NBC Los Angeles that he is “fully cooperating” with authorities. He also canceled a scheduled tour stop in Seattle after the news broke.
While neither McRae nor d4vd has commented publicly on the Instagram unfollow, fans were quick to notice the change. The Canadian pop star is currently preparing for the next stage of her career, while d4vd faces intense scrutiny as the investigation continues.
Rivas’ family has since spoken out, describing themselves as “heartbroken and devastated” and launching a GoFundMe to help cover funeral expenses. Authorities have not confirmed whether d4vd is considered a suspect or person of interest in the case.
