Disney Branded Television has officially commenced production on Camp Rock 3, the long-awaited sequel in the Camp Rock franchise.
Filming is underway in Vancouver, with the Jonas Brothers — Joe, Nick, and Kevin — returning as their original characters in the band Connect 3. The brothers will also serve as executive producers alongside original star Demi Lovato, who is returning behind the camera.
According to Disney’s announcement, Camp Rock 3 will stream on Disney+ and air on Disney Channel upon release. The plot centers on Connect 3 losing their opening act for a major reunion tour, causing them to return to their beloved Camp Rock to help discover new talent. As campers compete for the chance to open for the band, friendships are tested and unexpected alliances and romances emerge.
The film is directed by Veronica Rodriguez and written by Eydie Faye, with choreography by Jamal Sims. Cast and production include new characters like Sage (Liamani Segura), Desi (Hudson Stone), Rosie (Lumi Pollack), Cliff (Casey Trotter), Callie (Brooklynn Pitts), Madison (Ava Jean), and Fletch (Malachi Barton). Maria Canals-Barrera is also returning as Mitchie’s mother.
This new installment arrives over a decade after Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam premiered. Fans will be watching closely to see how Camp Rock 3 balances the nostalgia of the original films with the fresh energy and voices of its new cast. Disney has not yet revealed a release date.
