Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are at the center of a bold new conspiracy theory that ties the Kansas City Chiefs’ poor start to the 2025 NFL season with the league’s broader marketing interests.

The Chiefs have opened the season 0-2 after losses to the Los Angeles Chargers and Philadelphia Eagles, leaving star quarterback Patrick Mahomes struggling to find consistent offensive options. Injuries and suspensions have sidelined key wide receivers Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy, while the running game has remained ineffective.

As the Chiefs prepare to face the New York Giants on September 21, ESPN Radio New York analyst Don La Greca suggested the NFL would not allow Kansas City to lose a third consecutive game. “The NFL is not going to allow the Chiefs to start 0-3,” La Greca said, adding that officiating decisions could favor Kansas City in order to protect the league’s image.

Central to the speculation is Kelce’s high-profile relationship with Taylor Swift, which has drawn millions of new fans—particularly younger female viewers—into NFL broadcasts. Critics argue the league has a vested interest in keeping the Chiefs and their star tight end in the spotlight.

La Greca even claimed Kelce and Swift are “engaged,” framing the relationship as a major factor in the NFL’s global marketing strategy.

While conspiracy theories swirl, Kansas City has denied rumors of pursuing a reunion with former wide receiver Tyreek Hill. Instead, the team is focused on reintegrating its current roster as it looks to avoid a rare 0-3 start.
