Apple TV+ has wasted no time in locking down more of its flagship drama, announcing that The Morning Show will return for a fifth season before audiences even get the chance to see season four. The move comes on the eve of the season four premiere on September 17, continuing a pattern of early renewals for the streaming giant’s glossy drama led by Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon.

Season four will pick up almost two years after the events of season three, exploring the fallout of the UBA-NBN merger as the newsroom grapples with shifting power, hidden motives and a divided American landscape. Aniston’s Alex Levy is navigating a new role while Witherspoon’s Bradley Jackson is facing the repercussions of helping her brother during January 6, setting the stage for high drama both on and off screen.

The ensemble cast remains stacked with talent, including Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Greta Lee, Karen Pittman, Nicole Beharie and Jon Hamm. New additions for season four include Aaron Pierre, William Jackson Harper, Boyd Holbrook, Marion Cotillard and Jeremy Irons. Holbrook will play a provocative podcaster, while Cotillard and Irons add further prestige to the series, with Irons stepping in as Alex’s father.

Apple executives have praised the show for connecting with global audiences and anchoring the platform’s original programming slate. Matt Cherniss, head of programming at Apple TV+, called it a standout since launch, while executive producer Michael Ellenberg noted that the renewal gives the cast and crew more room to shine.

While critics remain divided on the series’ quality, The Morning Show continues to be a major draw thanks to its star power and mix of scandal, romance and media intrigue. The early renewal ensures that Aniston and Witherspoon’s newsroom saga will continue shaping Apple TV+’s identity for at least another season, keeping the spotlight firmly on one of the streamer’s most talked-about dramas.
