Haliey Welch, widely known as the Hawk Tuah girl, has spoken publicly for the first time in months, sharing her views on the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

In a video posted to Instagram, Welch criticised those who celebrated Kirk’s fatal shooting at Utah Valley University, where the 31-year-old was killed after being shot in the neck.

Welch began by saying she did not care whether people agreed with her or not but described seeing “outrageous and heinous” reactions online in recent days. She condemned individuals who applauded “another human being unalived,” calling the behaviour “sick.” Welch said, “You don’t have to agree with a single thing Charlie said, practiced, or preached, but you should have a little bit of sympathy for his wife and kids.”

Welch continued her message by urging people to be respectful and to avoid speaking if they could not show kindness. She pointed to the deepening divide in the United States and said moments like this should encourage unity rather than hostility. Referring to recent cases of violence, she added that the past week had shown the world to be “mean” and “evil.”

Ending on a call for empathy, Welch told her followers that compassion should guide reactions in times of tragedy.

While many comments under her post supported that message, her appearance also revived old criticism over a failed cryptocurrency project linked to her name, with some users accusing her of a “pump and dump” scheme — allegations she has previously denied.
