Actress Komal Aziz says that the showbiz environment was not favourable for educated people and that was the reason behind her leaving the entertainment world at the peak of her career.

In an interview with a private TV channel, Komal Aziz said clarified that her decision to quit showbiz was not about earning, saying that money was never an issue in showbiz and that she was already earning well from her business.

"Because the industry's atmosphere was becoming increasingly unbearable," she said. Speaking candidly, Komal Aziz remarked that "the environment there is simply not suitable for educated individuals."

She further said that working hours in showbiz are extremely long, politics runs deep, meals are not provided on time, and hygiene arrangements are poor. All these factors contributed to her decision to quit, and she has no regrets about it, she added.

The actress said that her business is thriving, and the environment there is much more suitable for her, which makes her feel content. "Fame is not everything," she stated. She also revealed that due to the same toxic environment and politics, she neither has close friends in showbiz nor on social media.

Komal's views are echoed by rising actress Maria Malik, who said in a separate interview that behind the glitter of showbiz lie many dark aspects, which are painful to hear about.

According to Express News, Maria spoke candidly about her career and the bitter realities of the industry in the interview. Though nothing wrong ever happened to her personally, she said, "but I have heard horrifying stories" from others.

"Thankfully, I have never faced any unpleasant incident myself, but that does not mean such things don't happen," said the actress, who gained attention with the drama Ilzam-e-Ishq.

Speaking about her career, Maria said that newcomers are generally offered supporting roles only, and she too started with such characters. But later on she turned down some roles because she wanted to be seen in lead characters.

"Producers don't like hearing 'no', she said. However, the actress admitted that once an artist starts gaining success, those same producers and others begin treating them better.
