Paris Jackson has publicly denied actor Colman Domingo’s recent claim that she played a helpful role in the production of Michael, the upcoming biopic about her late father, pop icon Michael Jackson.

Speaking to People at the amfAR benefit gala during the Venice Film Festival, Domingo, who portrays Joe Jackson in the film, suggested that both Paris and her brother Prince Jackson were supportive of the project. He described Paris as “very helpful” and referred to Prince as “a man of the film.” Domingo added, “It feels like a nice way for us to be together,” referring to their joint appearance at the gala.

However, Paris took to Instagram Stories shortly after to challenge those remarks, making it clear that she had no involvement in the biopic’s production. “@kingofbingo don’t be telling people I was helpful on the set of a movie I had 0% involvement in lol that is so weird,” she wrote, referencing Domingo’s Instagram handle. In a follow-up post, she elaborated that she had only read an early draft of the script and shared feedback about what she found to be “dishonest” or uncomfortable. “When they didn’t address it I moved on with my life,” she added. “Not my monkeys not my circus. God bless and god speed.”

Domingo has not responded publicly to Paris’s statement as of yet. In past interviews, the actor has emphasized the biopic’s intention to present a humanized and nuanced portrayal of Michael Jackson’s life, stating that it aims to explore both the personal and controversial aspects of his legacy.

Directed by Antoine Fuqua and produced by Graham King, Michael stars Jaafar Jackson, Michael’s nephew, in the lead role. The film also features performances by Miles Teller, Kat Graham, and Nia Long. Originally slated for release in 2025, Michael has been delayed and is now expected to hit theaters in 2026.
