Kourtney Kardashian Barker has addressed public backlash after posting a photo of her 21-month-old son, Rocky Thirteen, on a boat without a life vest.

The image, shared on Instagram on August 8, sparked safety concerns among followers, particularly because Idaho law requires children aged 14 and under to wear life jackets while on the water.

The Lemme founder, 46, responded to the criticism the following day via Instagram Stories. She shared a picture of an infant life vest, writing, “Update: bought a life vest that fits! Good looking out. Honestly didn’t think about some of the dangers. Thank you for making me aware and hopefully this helps make other mommies aware.”

Kardashian Barker shares Rocky with her husband, musician Travis Barker, and is also mother to Mason, 15, Penelope, 13, and Reign, 10, from her previous relationship with Scott Disick.

Comments on her original post ranged from concerned reminders to direct criticism. Some followers pointed out that even if adults choose not to wear protective gear, children’s safety should not be compromised. Others noted the visible presence of a life vest in the boat, questioning why it wasn’t being used.

In addition to addressing the safety issue, Kardashian Barker re-shared the boating photo during World Breastfeeding Week, captioning it with a message about feeling “blessed and grateful” for her experiences with her youngest child.

Rocky was born in November 2023, and this latest incident has prompted broader discussions about boating safety and celebrity influence on parenting practices.
