Travis Hunter Sr., father of Jacksonville Jaguars rookie Travis Hunter Jr., was arrested in Palm Beach County, Florida, on Tuesday for allegedly violating the terms of his probation. According to court documents obtained by USA Today, authorities claim Hunter Sr. was out of range from his electronic monitoring device for approximately 11 minutes on the evening of June 28.
Officials say that when questioned, Hunter Sr. explained he had been moving quickly around his home and inadvertently left the device in another room. A subsequent test on July 4 confirmed the monitoring equipment was functioning properly. An arrest warrant was issued on July 10, and Hunter Sr. is currently being held without bond. A hearing on the matter is scheduled for Thursday.
Hunter Sr., 39, is serving a probation sentence stemming from a 2023 traffic stop, during which he was found in possession of drugs and a loaded firearm. He was previously convicted on charges related to heroin distribution, which elevated the firearm possession to a felony. He later accepted a plea deal, serving 90 days in jail and agreeing to three years of probation, including one year under strict “community control”—a form of supervised house arrest.
The arrest comes at a significant moment for the Hunter family, as Travis Jr. prepares to begin training camp with the Jaguars after being selected second overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. The elder Hunter had received court permission earlier this year to attend the draft in Green Bay and his son’s wedding in Tennessee, though a judge recently denied a request to ease probation terms.
As Travis Jr. begins his NFL career under intense media attention, his family continues to navigate legal and personal challenges. He has yet to comment publicly on his father's latest arrest.
