Netflix confirms Scooby-Doo: Origins live-action series as production begins in Atlanta with a new cast lineup

Netflix has officially revealed the title of its upcoming live-action Scooby-Doo series as Scooby-Doo: Origins, with production now underway in Atlanta.
The project marks a modern reimagining of the iconic mystery franchise originally created by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears.
According to Netflix, the series will explore the early story of the beloved mystery-solving group. The plot follows Shaggy and Daphne during their final summer at camp, where they become entangled in a supernatural mystery involving a lost Great Dane puppy—hinting at the origins of Scooby-Doo himself.
The duo is joined by Velma, portrayed as a highly analytical local, and Freddy, a mysterious newcomer. Together, the group investigates a case that gradually pulls them into a darker and more complex narrative, blending classic mystery elements with modern storytelling.
The cast includes Tanner Hagen as Shaggy, McKenna Grace as Daphne, Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma and Maxwell Jenkins as Freddy. Additional casting includes Paul Walter Hauser in an undisclosed role.
The series is being developed by Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg, who serve as writers, showrunners and executive producers. Production is backed by Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
Scooby-Doo: Origins continues Netflix’s strategy of reviving well-known intellectual properties for a new generation, while building on the enduring global popularity of the Scooby-Doo franchise, which first debuted in 1969.
Further details, including a release date, have yet to be announced.
