SZA has opened up about her insecurities and anxiety while touring with Kendrick Lamar, revealing she felt “invisible” next to the Compton rapper on their joint Grand National Tour.

In a candid interview with singer Chappell Roan for Interview Magazine, the Grammy-winning “Kill Bill” artist shared her emotional struggles performing in large stadiums for the first time.

“I’ve never been on a f**king stadium tour before. There’s so much fear,” SZA confessed. “Am I going to feel the crowd so far away from me versus being in a smaller venue? Where’s the energy going to bounce off of?”

The Grand National Tour kicked off on April 19 across the U.S., pairing SZA with Kendrick Lamar, whose recent success with the viral diss track “Not Like Us” has only intensified his spotlight. While fans have celebrated the pairing, SZA admitted to initially questioning her place in such a high-profile collaboration.

“Everybody’s going to see Kendrick. I don’t even know if I have anything to show these people that’s exciting and new,” she said.

Despite her doubts, SZA pushed herself to embrace the experience. “I want to walk through the door. I want to see what happens in the uncertainty. That’s the true magic,” she added.

Reflecting on her growth, SZA noted how she once avoided opportunities due to fear of being overlooked. “Now it’s just like, ‘F**k it. I want to see where this door is going to lead.’”
