Jonah Platt, son of Snow White producer Marc Platt, sparked controversy online after criticising actress Rachel Zegler in a now-deleted Instagram post. His remarks followed a Variety report claiming that Marc flew to New York to address Zegler’s social media conduct during the film’s promotional campaign.

In response to a comment questioning his father’s actions, Jonah accused the 23-year-old actress of being “immature” and putting her personal views above her professional responsibilities. He defended his father’s decision, citing the film’s high financial stakes, and said: “My dad... had to leave his family to reprimand his 20-year-old employee for dragging her personal politics into the middle of promoting the movie.”

Zegler had posted political messages, including “Free Palestine” and criticism of Donald Trump, which drew concern from studio executives. According to The New York Times and Variety, Marc Platt urged her to consider working with a social media expert and reminded her of the film’s stakes before asking her to “post heedfully.”

Jonah’s comments quickly drew backlash, with critics mocking his tone and disputing his claims, with most people calling him a nepo baby.  Some users noted that production workers are typically paid regardless of box office performance, pushing back on the idea that Zegler’s posts hurt the livelihoods of crew members.

The social media backlash is just one of several controversies surrounding Snow White. The film has also faced criticism for excluding dwarf actors from key roles and making “woke” changes to its storyline. Despite topping the box office, it earned only $87 million worldwide during its opening weekend—well below its reported $270 million budget. Disney executives are now said to be reviewing what went wrong.
