Dawn Robinson, a former member of the iconic '90s R&B group En Vogue, has revealed she has been homeless for the past three years.
In a March 11 YouTube video, the 58-year-old singer shared her story of living in her car, a decision she made after leaving her parents' home in Las Vegas in 2020. Robinson briefly stayed in Los Angeles, first with her manager, but after facing difficulties with housing, she turned to "car life" and found freedom in it.
Robinson explained how her manager's actions led to a vulnerable situation, prompting her to move out and embrace a simpler life on the road. Despite the challenges, including the tragic loss of her dog, Max, Robinson is proud of her journey. She described the experience as a personal growth moment, learning more about herself and her strength as a woman.
The former En Vogue star emphasised that she does not seek pity but instead wants to inspire others to take risks, "do the scary," and embrace spontaneity.
Robinson reflected on her past with En Vogue, where she was the lead voice on some of their most famous tracks. Having parted ways with the group in 1997, Robinson has pursued a variety of projects, including acting and appearing on R&B Divas: Los Angeles.
In her video, Robinson said she is proud of what she has achieved, despite the difficulties. "I’m glad I did this. I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished out here," she concluded.
