The local authorities have imposed section 144 in Murree for three days starting from February 8 to 10, Express News reported.
According to the notification, all gatherings, processions, rallies, and sit-ins have been prohibited in Muree for three days underSection 144, Express News reported.
The notification comes after the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced that it will hold a rally in Swabi on February 8.
PTI General Secretary Salman Akram Raja, speaking with the media during a court hearing in Islamabad, clarified that the party's rally would be confined to Suabi, with no plans for violence.
He emphasised that the protest would take place at the union council and tehsil level, inviting supporters to join the movement as far as they can, with no intention of causing disturbance or clashes.
“We are not interested in causing any trouble. Our protests are peaceful and we remain committed to standing against the oppressive policies of the government,” said Raja.
The PTI leader also stressed that the party continues to face what he called "false cases" that have been used to intimidate them.
“We will continue to fight these charges, as they are baseless. The people of Pakistan stand with us in opposition to this regime’s attempts to silence our voice.”
Raja also reiterated his belief that Maulana Fazlur Rehman would stand with the public. “The people oppose the fascism of this government, and I am confident that Maulana Fazlur Rehman, a seasoned politician, will be with the people," he added.
In a recent development, PTI had applied for permission to hold a rally at Minar Pakistan, but the District Commissioner (DC) denied the request, citing other events such as a major international conference and a cricket match taking place on the same day, with heightened security measures being deployed.
