The Sindh Home Department has announced the imposition of Section 144 in Karachi for two days, starting from December 31, 2024 to January 1, 2025, to maintain law and order during New Year’s celebrations.
According to an official notification issued on Friday, the ban includes celebratory aerial firing and the use of fireworks. The decision aims to prevent incidents of injuries and fatalities that often occur during such activities on New Year’s Eve.
Authorities have reminded the public that every year, several individuals are injured or lose their lives due to reckless firing and mishandling of fireworks during celebrations.
The implementation of Section 144 seeks to ensure public safety and maintain peace in the city as residents welcome the new year.
