President, PM felicitate Christians on Easter

ISLAMABAD:

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday felicitated the Christian community in Pakistan and worldwide on the occasion of Easter.

The Christian community in Pakistan and around the world celebrated Easter on Sunday with religious fervour and devotion in remembrance of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

In his message on X, President Zardari said the day symbolised compassion, hope, renewal, rebirth, and the triumph of good over evil. He praised the role of the Christian community across the country, saying their contributions are integral to society and deserve recognition and respect.

In a separate message, the premier said Easter carries a universal message of love and renewed hope for all humanity.

"I also extend my best wishes of traditional festivities of Easter to all citizens. May this blessed day usher an era of peace, stability, and prosperity for the Christian community, our country, and for the entire world," he said.

"In today's tenacious global environment, message of peace ebbed in all religions has become ever more significant. Easter, like all religious occasions, carries a universal message of love and renewed hope for all humanity. It embodies the values of sacrifice and forgiveness, as well as peace, tolerance, brotherhood, and goodwill, promoting social cohesion and interfaith harmony," he added.

The premier noted that the Christian community continues to play an active and invaluable role in the country's economic and social development.

"The Christian community of Pakistan is rendering commendable and admirable services across all professional fields and continues to play an active and invaluable role in the country's economic and social development," he said.
