The provincial government of Balochistan has enforced Section 144 across the province for 15 days, citing concerns over law and order, Express News reported.
The Home Department confirmed that the restriction will apply to gatherings of five or more people, including protests, rallies, and public meetings.
Under the newly imposed order, the display of weapons in public places is also prohibited. The move aims to curb any potential unrest in the region, which has been facing security challenges in recent months.
The Home Department has stated that these measures are being implemented to ensure peace and prevent any disturbances during this period.
The restrictions will remain in effect for the next 15 days, and authorities have urged the public to comply with the law in order to maintain order in the province.
On the other hand, the Punjab government had imposed Section 144 across the province, effectively banning all public gatherings, protests, rallies, processions, and sit-ins for a period of three days.
In this connection, the Punjab Home Department had issued a notification regarding the enforcement of Section 144 across the province, Express News reported on Friday.
According to the notification, all forms of protests, rallies, processions, and sit-ins are prohibited. The Section 144 will be in effect from November 23 to November 25.
According to a spokesperson for the Punjab Home Department, the recommendation to enforce Section 144 was made during a meeting of the Cabinet Committee for Law and Order. The decision to impose Section 144 was made to ensure peace, protect human lives, and safeguard property.
In view of security concerns, any public procession could be a soft target for terrorists. Miscreants might exploit public gatherings to carry out anti-state activities and achieve their malicious objectives.
