The 2025 Academy Awards have revealed their nominees, with Anora emerging as the front-runner in several key categories.
The film leads the pack with nominations for Best Picture, Best Director (Sean Baker), and Best Actor (Mikey Madison).
Other major contenders include The Brutalist, which garnered nominations for Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor for Guy Pearce, and A Complete Unknown, which earned nods in Best Picture, Best Director (James Mangold), and Best Supporting Actress for Monica Barbaro. Wicked also made an impression, with Ariana Grande earning a Best Supporting Actress nomination for her role as Glinda.
The Best Actress race is shaping up to be competitive, with Cynthia Erivo (Wicked), Karla Sofia Gascon (Emilia Pérez), Mikey Madison (Anora), Demi Moore (The Substance), and Fernanda Torres (I’m Still Here) all vying for the top honor. In the Best Supporting Actor category, Yura Borisov (Anora), Edward Norton (A Complete Unknown), and Jeremy Strong (The Apprentice) are among the nominees.
The 2025 Academy Awards ceremony, hosted by Conan O'Brien, will air live on March 2, 2025, with a red carpet beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET.
