Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport experienced significant congestion, causing delays in the departure of several international flights.
More than 10 flights were scheduled to depart at the same time, overwhelming the airport’s infrastructure and resulting in long delays for passengers, Express News reported.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the unusually high passenger traffic created chaos at the airport.
As multiple international flights, including those to Saudi Arabia, Bangkok, and other destinations, were delayed by several hours, travellers were left stranded, facing long queues at the immigration counter.
One of the most notable delays was the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight bound for Madinah, which was delayed by three hours. Other flights also faced disruptions, including those heading to various Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian destinations.
The congestion worsened early in the morning, with passengers complaining about the lack of information and the prolonged wait times. Immigration staff struggled to manage the growing number of passengers, and long lines were reported at various checkpoints.
The CAA has not yet provided an official statement on the cause of the simultaneous departures, though sources suggest the scheduling of multiple flights at the same time may have led to the situation.
As the airport works to manage the surge in traffic, passengers are being urged to arrive well in advance of their scheduled departure times to avoid further disruptions.
