The Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) Shanghai Major, hosted by Perfect World in partnership with Valve, concluded with Team Spirit defeating FaZe Clan in a thrilling 2-1 grand final on December 15. This victory earned Team Spirit the championship title and a $500,000 share of the $1.25 million prize pool.

The tournament featured 24 of the world’s best CS2 teams competing across several stages, including an opening round, elimination matches, and playoffs. Teams like MOUZ and G2 Esports finished in third and fourth places, each taking home $80,000, while other notable contenders such as Heroic and The MongolZ placed 5th-8th with $45,000 prizes. Team Spirit advanced to the final by defeating MOUZ, while FaZe earned their spot by overcoming G2 Esports.

The Shanghai Major was broadcast on PGL’s Twitch and YouTube channels, attracting a global audience. Fans also tuned in to co-streams hosted by prominent creators like ohnePixel and olofmeister, adding a personal touch to the viewing experience.

Perfect World, a key partner for Valve in publishing CS2 and Dota 2 in China, organized the event. Their efforts underscored the growing importance of esports in the region, especially as the Shanghai Major marked one of the first high-profile CS2 tournaments.
